Vita

Claus Freudenstein is a very imaginative and creative musician, who, having completed comprehensive contrabass and e-bass studies, knows no musical bounds.
He has appeared at the Bavarian State Opera House, with the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Teneriffa Symphony Orchestra, in many musicals or as support for Deep Purple and Status Quo. In addition, Claus Freudenstein writes articles for specialist literature such as "Arbeitshilfen des Deutschen Musikschulverbandes" and composes music for his instruments.

His Christmas arrangements for Double Bass Quartett will be published by "Hofmeister Verlag" in 2012.

Claus Freudenstein will be Docent for "Mühldorfer Sommerakademie" where he will hold a special class for Minibass. Furthermore he is Docent for the "Bavarian Bass Camp" as well as for "Landesakademie Berlin"

He has played in symphony and opera orchestras, musical productions, bands and a wide range of ensembles. He plays nearly all styles of music with instinctive assurance.

Education

Claus Freudenstein was born in Altötting (Upper Bavaria) on April 25, 1972.

After graduating from secondary school, he worked as a tax official for the state of Bavaria. He started to play the e-bass at the age of 19.

After taking lessons from different teachers for two years, he enrolled at the Bass School of Munich (BSM).

It was only then, at the age of 22, that he discovered the contrabass.

Following in-depth studies with Arpad György and Dorin Marc, at the age of 24 he enrolled at the Leopold Mozart Konservatorium in Augsburg and studied under the tutelage of Franz Maier Musiol. He then continued his studies at the College of Music in Munich and at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium under Thomas Jauch, Matthias Weber and Klaus Trumpf.

He was further inspired by classes held by Frank Reinicke and Francóis Rabbath.
